Dearest Clara,

Honey, I will write this now, while I have a few minutes before I start to work. I just got through eating dinner, so feel pretty good, I didn’t write a very long letter to Mother last night and was awful tired and sleepy and I wished that yours was longer, but I just couldn’t think of any news to tell, so don’t feel bad dear. My eyes are tired from being out in the bright sun, especially when it is shining on the white sand. I hope that your Grandmother will soon be able to write, you might have to do it for her, I know you would do that, wouldn’t you? I finally got another cigar box, to put some of my writing materials in it. The one I got in the states was about all to pieces.

I’m in hopes that I get a letter from you this evening, so I can at last answer all of your questions.

I got my hair cut, so now it isn’t so hot. You and Mom probably have all the corn all finished. Be careful, honey. Write often.

With all my love,

To my Sweet Wife

Love your husband, Johnny
