December 29

Dear Marguerite,

Golly honey, I’m hoping this address is sufficient to find you, cause I was so very happy to hear from you, and now I’m over anxious to hear more.  Sorry I’ve forgotten how to spell Pres’ last name-or aren’t I even close?  It’s been ages though, you know, and a lot has happened.

Yes, I’m in the Army at last-still quite a rookie, but I’m having the best time of my life and love every part of Army Life (almost).  I have been in since October, but have seen a lot of country in that short time.  I was stationed at Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado for the first month where I recorded my basic training.  I enjoyed it to no end, and could ramble on n’ on ‘bout basic.  It was similar to “Prokie Days”, cause we felt so new, and Army nursing is very different.  I marked on a Nasa-Pharygitis Hard while there.  We recorded our diplomas November 29th and were ready to ship by November 30th-about sixteen of us left, six for here.  We have had one super time though very few like it.  My chum “Fernie” and I met a couple of pilots, and mine being an instructor takes me flying after – golly, it’s so thrilling.  Perhaps we like Sheppard, cause we go so much – to Dallas and Fortworth - never a dull moment.

Incidentally, we’ve been in O.B. ever since I’ve been here, but I love it.  I’m going on nights Friday for 1 month.  12 hour duty with no time off.

Please write and then I’ll tell you more ‘bout Sheppard.

Love,

Las.
