My dearest wife:

Yes honey I am thinking about you and very much at that. You still fill my mind completely. All I can think of is you my dear. I do love you.

I finally made up my mind and went to town yesterday afternoon. It was awfully hot with O.D.’s. I went to the barber shop and had a shower, haircut, and shave (the works). Boy it sure felt good after it was all over. I had a good supper, a club steak, and then had a few bottles of beer, then went to the show and saw “Going my Way”, which I thought was very good. Speaking of shows, I saw the “7th Cross”. Now tell me the truth, did you like Betty Davis? They also invited our company and another to a dance at the high school. I went out for a while after the show then came back to camp. I was back already about 11:45 P.M. That is the story of my thrilling night in Gallitin. They have a football game in there tonight which I wanted to see but now we are on a problem and can’t leave the place. Such in life I guess. I love to see football and basketball games. Do you?

I thought for sure you would have a nice wash day, but I guess the weather can’t be the same everywhere. We have had showers on and off today. It cleared up late this afternoon. I hope it doesn’t rain again for awhile because things get so miserable out here. Your feet get wet and stay that way for a couple days, and it’s so sloppy, muddy. You can probably get a good idea how it is out here.

The longer I am married to you the better wife you seem to be. It seems awfully good to hear you say you like to wash and do housework. There are hundreds of women that actually hate housework and I guess you know that from being around girls. Then some are so sloppy and don’t give a damn. Well honey I am darn proud to have a wife like you. I hope you keep up the same attitude all the time. I love you, my wife.

I too often think how good it was to sleep with you when I was home last. I held you to me most of the night, and I really like to sleep that way. I did sleep good too. I always seem to be so rested when I am with you. I seem to sleep better without clothes too. I hope you will always sleep like that with me. Summer and winter. Will you? How well I remember Fort Clinton.

So you are back on Central time again. Whenever I think about you I always had to figure about what you were doing an hour later than the time we had. Now you have the same time as we.

I do get so awfully lonesome for you at times. It seems like I just have to come home to see you. You are so very dear to me. Right at this minute you have my heart in my throat , no kidding.

Ah honey how I hope and pray that I can get to see you for a weekend in Indianapolis. You always think of all the good things to do. I am very much in favor of all the things you suggest and more. You have me all excited. I pray every night that nothing will happen that we can’t meet. I’ll tell you when as soon as I know for sure.

Maggie, I think about Martha and Mabel often, and Suzzie, very often. I thought maybe you didn’t want to hear anything abou them anymore now that you have been married two years and have almost two children. Are Martha and Mabel that shapely? Gee I can hardly wait to see them.

It has started to rain again and my truck top leaks and it is getting the paper so messy. I hope you can read some of it.

I think this is all the news for tonight my dear. It’s so good to hear you say you love me. I love you, I love you, I love you. You are my wife forever.

                                                Love,

                                                                Preston
