-Happy New Year!

My Dearest Husband,

Not much to write about tonite again, honey. The letter I wrote yesterday hasn’t been mailed yet as there was no mail today and we are in the midst of a blizzard and I can’t mail it. The temperature is five right now and still dropping. Also I am in the midst of the grippe. I can hardly talk and have been laying down all day. My hip is out of joint. I guess those are enough of my troubles for now.

We took the tree down tonite. I hated to, for it made you seem much further away and the time so long since I saw you last even tho it’s only a short few days.

Do you know, Allen has a little tumor on the back of his head? I am going to watch and if it hasn’t grown any by time for his next shot. I won’t take it too seriously. In any case, I will call it to the doctor’s attention as it could be the cause of that crooked eye.

This is the first day of our new year, Pres. Our third new year. The years have been good: we’ve had to cram so much in to them though that I am afraid we haven’t enjoyed. There too much but, they’ve been wonderfully full of living and loving. I hope they’re all like that. I will try to wait but not patiently I’m afraid, merely resigned.

My wash got real nice, so clean.

Mother said it was a mistake about the house. It was 1643. I wish we could have bought it. That’s a rather nice place and only 3500 Is it still in the paper? Where in Allentown wouldn’t you care to live? How’s five or ten and where would you [care to live]?

I love you my Preston. Do you miss me a little and what do you think of Allen and me? Have you been doing any dreaming lately? How are you? What’s new? Tell Ric’d [Richard] wish him a new year.

If you go, call me. I miss you Preston as does Allen.

Chin up now and goodnite honey.

                All my love, Maggie.
