Sun 9 P.M.

My darling:

I love you so much again Preston. I just can’t get you out of my mind.

Nothing of importance happened today. I went to church: it was a lovely sermon. I am sending the bulletin and am asking you to read out of the little Bible. I gave you the scripture – I Corinthians Chapter 13. In this text, the word charity means love. Read it carefully; it is very beautiful. Read it right now so you don’t forget to later on.

I was thinking when we buy furniture, maybe it would be better to start out with some inexpensive piece like in the clippings I have enclosed. Then when the kids get bigger and we are settled in our own home, we can save and buy some nicer. I can put the bedroom suite in Bobby’s room and buy us a new one like I want. The living room suit we can put in the playroom and get a better one. For the dining room, I’ll keep what I have. What do you think? If we build our own home it’ll help me get a start maybe or do you think we should get everything we want right off and have it over with? Tell me what you think. I have to go get me reservation this week. I thought I’d stay a month.

I sent Mary Mengel a little blue sweater and mother made a little pair of blue bootees to match. She had a little boy as you probably know by this time.

Allen has been a regular devil today – He got in the stocking had in the corner and took everything out and had it all over the dining room.

On the Army horn today from New York, we heard the Monticello docking at Staten Is. bringing home some fellows from the 1st Army. I wished one of them could be you. I wish it every day. I miss you something awful husband mine.

Junie Glick is back with his company and is in Norway.

Did you leave N.Y. is the morning or nite? What time? Did you leave Knox on the day Barbara was home? Did you think about me much and worry? Were you excited and happy about the baby? Tell me some things.

Goodnite, Pres. You are my dearest, darling, wonderfulest, handsome, strong husband and I love you. ------Maggie.

P.S. What are your favorite colors?
