My darling Maggie:

Two letters from you and one from mother today and they come pretty quick.  Your latest and the one from mother were just marked the 12th and today is only the 18th.  Good time.  No?

I see you are keeping better hours since you are in PA.  I don’t know why you always go to bed so late.  I know when I’m home I won’t be staying up that late, you will love to go to bed without me, but I will have it all warmed up for you.  I wish too I could be home so I could sleep with you again.  I too miss you very much.

What kind of things of mine did you have sent home?

Does Allen like my Dad?  Does he like ice cream very much?  I guess he takes after his dad.

Is the refrigerator fixed yet?  I’ll bet it will cost pretty much to have it fixed as it is a pretty old one.

The night club isn’t quite finished yet, but it shouldn’t take very much longer to finish it.  It looks real good.  We are going to start drinking our whiskey ration now as we are under a new section now.  We were under the Normandy Base Section (NBS) but they were dissolved, and now we are under the Chanor Base Section (CBS) which is my up around La Howe.  So one of these days we will be getting some good whiskey and shots.  I don’t know about the officers, I guess they will be there too.  I still don’t get along with a couple of the officers.  The Captain is still a S.B. and so is one of the others, but the other four seem to be alright.  Did you go down to the Circlon yet?  If you did, does it look anything like it did?

I see where I am going to have a time trying to make Allentown your home.  You can still change your mind you know.  As I know it will never be like Liffin for it is about three or four times larger, which does make a difference.  I’ll do my best to make you like it and to make it your home, that is if you want to live there.  I’d like to get back to home to and settle down as I have been away for 49 months now already and with this life I could almost make any place my home.

Mother says the houses they are making now are not very good, and the way they are made, they will only last about 15 to 20 years.  You know we couldn’t afford that very well.  Well that is unless I inherit a fortune or something.  Have you seen anything you like any place?

It has been very warm around here today and I actually sweat a little, for the first time.  I have been thinking about you all day again my darling.  I love you so darn much.

Goodnite for now my dearest,

All my love,

Pres
