Dear Mom and Dad,

Well I finally got some of your letters. Since I wrote you last I have gotten yours of the 16th, 26th, 28th, and March 3rd. Also got aunties letter with Nanas and Babies inside. Sure is swell to hear from everyone.

I think I have answered most of your questions in my previous letters. Sure do like the pictures of Sheri. Cut them down to fit in my wallet. That’s about all I have in it since I sent all my other things home. Can’t take any of those things with me including the diary Nana gave me. I sent my little bag home as it was too big to go in my combat pack, which contains only the things absolutely essential. It’s the only thing we are sure of having with us at all times. I’m using the toilet kit Aunt Sissy gave me. It’s just the thing.

Well we’ve been training since I wrote last and I have been in 2 more different camps. Still here on the island of Oahre. Can’t tell you what type of training we’ve been getting. It’s something entirely new to us.

Should see Tom before long. Haven’t seen Willis again as yet. May get into Honolulu again this Sunday and may look them up again.

Just finished taking the splint off my finger. Sure has healed up nicely. Guess I’m a pretty good doctor. Took care of it myself. Don’t think it will ever leave a sear. Didn’t want to mess around with the dispensary. Finger is pretty still now.

Been pretty rough since I wrote last. All conveniences of camps have gone including chow. Nothing but c rations.

Been raiding coconuts trees and everything else in sight.

Tell the folks ill answer their letters as soon as I can. Don’t have much time now. Give them all my love.

Love Jack,

P.S. Bet it seems funny to have dad with false teeth.
