Fri. Mar. 23.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I’m just sending a line to say hello, and to tell you I’m fine. I’ve been busy most of the time training. I am writing now by candle light. That’s all we have out here.

I went swimming this evening. The water is just as clean as glass, and almost body temperature. You can wade way out, and it only comes up to your waist. I have to be very careful of the coral, however. One of the boys had four stitches taken in his foot from a coral cut. It’s terribly hot and sultry here. It doesn’t ever cool off at night.

I am acting platoon Sgt. here again. Some fun.

I got Emma’s and Rose’s letter the day before yesterday. I will answer soon.

Well, bye bye for now. Write often.

                                    Love,

                                                Jack
