Dear Mom + Pop:

I just got your letter after I came off guard duty, and so I thought I would sit down and answer it.

I’ve already written to Aunt Barbara but I’m going to wait until I get some post cards before I write to everybody because it takes so much time to write all those letters.

When it comes time for us to have visitors, I’ll let you know and straighten out everything.  I won’t be able to have visitors until about the 19th of August because we have to wait until after our service week which falls on the fourth. In our service week we will probably serve as mess men for an average of 12 hours a day.  And it’s also dirty and sloppy.

We took all of our tests and we get our personal interviews tomorrow. I hope everything turns out O.K.

I also took out a $10,000 Insurance policy with you and Pop as    ?    .  It’s a pretty good deal.

Well I guess I’ll dose now because I have to take a shower and clean up and then hit the sack.

All my love,

Alfred
