Dear mom and pop,

Well, I caught the train alright and got back to Barracks around twenty minutes till two. That means I got about 2 ½ hours of sleep. Today I was a busboy in the Officers mess. What a job! I still plan on going to Washington but if I decide different I will write and let you know. I got the temple paper today but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Well mom, there’s not much I can write about so I’ll close now. Take care of yourself.

                                                                        All my love,

                                                                                    Alfred
