Dear Mom + Pop:

Just got your letter today.  I’m not running a temperature anymore, but I still feel just a little bit bad.  I’m going to try to stay in as long as I can and make sure that I’m not just half well.  The doctor comes by every morning and he tells me to stay in bed.  I don’t know what will happen when I get out of the hospital, I’ll just have to take things as they come.  The first thing I have to do when I get out of the hospital is get my upper plate fixed.  So Aunt Flora’s getting married.  It’s kind of sudden isn’t it.

Today in the mail I got a lot of stuff from the National Lutheran Council.  They sent me a prayer book, Christmas folders to send to people, and also a list of Lutheran Service Centers all over the U.S. and World.  Well Mom I must close now.  Don’t worry and take care of yourself.  Tell Pap to take care of himself too.

                                                                        All my love

                                                                        Alfred
