Dear Mom and Pop:

I thought that I would come over to the school building tonight and answer a few letters. I got your letter today and also the box and newspapers. I guess your right about sending the newspapers. By the time the news reaches me its stale, so I guess I can get along with these San Diego papers.

Well school will be over in a few more weeks and then I guess sea duty. We’re going to have an interview about submarines an few weeks and I think that I might try. That would mean some more schooling in New London, Conn. I don’t think xx I’ll make it though because of my teeth and maybe my height.

How do like Ginnie? She’s awfully isn’t she compared to Don. Speaking of Hartman, if you see him again you can tell him I met a buddy of his. His name is Jim Doughty. I also met a fellow named Ned Sukin who graduated with Don and I.

I’m supposed to have my picture taken this weekend and send it to Ellen, so xx I’ll send one home. Before you know it our house will look like Rogue’s gallery. Speaking of pictures we had our class picture taken yesterday and guess who’s turned out the worst. Right! Me. Well I guess I’ll close now. It sure is hard to fill up a page when you are typing it out. Take care of yourself now.

All my love,

Alfred
