Treasure Island,

Dear Mom and Pop:

Well I’m still here. All packed up and ready to shore off, but we never go. I don’t know what the holdup is, but I hope to leave this hole by Monday morning any way.

Last night I went to a show here on the base but I were called out in the middle of it, to stand by for the Seamen strike. They had the Marines out in full pack all set for some fireworks, but nothing happened. Boy I can hardly wait to get on board that ship at Bikini. I’ve been waiting now darn near a year now to go to sea, I better get there. The ship were to go on has correspondents, scientists, and cameramen aboard, so I think after the atom bomb is all over with it will come right back to the states. There lack of getting 30 day leaves after it is over but how true that is I don’t know. Well, I guess I’ll close these few lines. Take care of yourselves.

All my love,

Alfred
