Dear Mom and Pop:

I thought I’d better drop you a few lines right away to let you know that I’ll be home this weekend.  The reason is that the other fellow wants to go home over Labor Day weekend.  I don’t care much whether I get home Labor Day or not so he’s going to work this coming weekend.  I was going to go down to the shore Labor Day weekend, but I think it will be better this weekend and it won’t be as crowded.  This other fellow lives in Ohio so he wants to get a long weekend to go home.

I worked till 11 O’clock last night, but tonight is pretty slow.  I’m going to get off work in another half-hour and I’m going down town with a buddy of mine to catch the last showing of “Gone with the Wind.”  I haven’t seen it yet so I guess this is about the last chance I’ll have.

Well I’m going to close now.  See you this weekend.

All my love

Alfred
