Dearest Mother;                                                                           Sept. 25, 1944

Received your letter and was very glad to hear from you but was sorry to hear that you were sick and that you’re better now and I’m glad that it wasn’t  cancer. When do you think you will be operated on? Don’t let it go to long huh ma. Ah yes I’ll write Rita tonight and tell her why and she’ll understand so don’t worry and thanks a million for trying. As for the money keep it so you won’t have to bother about it. Ah yes I’m taking an allotment out and I think it will be around forty dollars so you should be receiving it within a month or so and let me know when you do huh ma. So far have you received any bonds yet?

I was in the big city of New York yesterday and I had a swell time and there’s a lot of interesting places to go to. We went to hear a broadcast and walks around till our legs just about gave out and that city covers a lot of ground and we didn’t see a third of it.

Well ma haven’t anymore to say for tonight except I’m just fine and hoping you’re all in the very best of health so until tomorrow it’s just bye bye.

Love to all   Leslie
