My Dearest Mother:

Here it is Sunday again so I’ll drop you my weekend letter. First of all, I hope you’re all in the best of health and as for me I’m just fine and taking it easy. I did my week’s washing and what a big washing, it’s been so hot that it takes a lot of clothes. So that’s about all the excitement I’ve been doing this weekend. I received another letter from you yesterday and glad to hear that everything is still under control up in the good old state of Maine and keep it that way, for it won’t be long now that I’ll be home for good; at least I’ve got my hopes and that’s something, huh Ma? As for training it’s still the same and plenty fit. Yesterday all we had was inspection and that’s getting things shine up for the big boy’s look over.

Boy, it’s still hot down here; it doesn’t seem to get cool at all. There is a little breeze this afternoon which feels good and that’s something we don’t have everyday.

Thanks for sending me the paper I haven’t received it yet but I’m expecting it any time now.

Well Ma, how’s your leg now? Is it any better? Do you think you’ll have to be operated on? I hope not. Is Pa still working everyday in the mill? Well Ma, must be closing for now, there’s no excitement to write about so don’t worry I’m taking good care of myself. So for now it’s just bye bye.

            X X X X                                                Love to all,
