Sunday 8:00 P.M.                                                                                March 12- 1944

            Dear Hon:

Good evening darling. How did you make out as Latrine Orderly? I hope you didn’t mind it too much dear. Was it warm in La. today? Here at home it is like a spring day. The snow is almost all gone and the air is so warm and fresh. Mary + I took a walk to the drugstore just for the sake of getting some fresh air. We just got back with a few packages and we are very busy writing. The windows are all open and so are the doors. The weatherman said rain, it could be so.

I went to church this morning and so did the rest of the girls. We had a full course pork dinner when we got back, it was all very good. When Mary + I got back home from work we took a nice long rest. Darling, I was thinking as I lay there, how happy I was the last two Sun. because you were here. How much I could enjoy every Sunday if you were with me Sweetheart. I hope those happy days are not too far off.

We are expecting to go home tomorrow, as it is your Mom’s birthday and we want to surprise here. Ma F. is making her a birthday cake and is going along with us. I wish that you were here darling to go along with us.

2.

Somehow we expect Leo over tonight, but he may not come at all. I hope he does as we are always glad to see him.

I must write to Walt + Wanda as soon as possible. I never wrote to them about your homecoming and I’m sure they would be glad to hear from me.

Darling, I can’t think of anything more of interest to write about except to tell you again as always that I love you dearly and look forward to the day when we will be together for always.

Leo, had just called up dear, as he was coming down but he feared that is may get icy and slippery as it is raining out now. He said your Mom was sick in bed all day Monday + Tuesday. She expected you over again must be she didn’t take your good-bye too seriously. Sweetheart I will take your good-bye too seriously. Sweetheart I will try my utmost to be very brave and if she sad cried it wouldn’t have helped you any. She will understand, dear, as she always does.

Its heartbreaking for everyone involved.

Goodnite sweetheart and pleasent dreams.
