Oct. 31-1945

Dear Mom,

I was surprised very much today!! I know very well that this is the last day of Oct. almost two full months before Christmas and yet its here.  Christmas packages came for me today two from you and one from Barbie.  Thanks ever so much-and I know you must have spent considerable time planning and preparing those presents.  I really appreciate it all and I hope it is not all gone before Christmas.  I certainly know the memory and appreciation will last long after Christmas!!!!!!!  The week or more of rainy weather finally wore itself out and the last two days have been clear.  But, the days are getting colder- and old man winter is out to freeze me yet.  Like last winter, I barely would go out, I can’t remember going out in the last three weeks- except maybe to see the post team’s football game.

I’m sending you some money for Christmas.  There is little or nothing I can get over here.  I hope you can get the family every thing and if I remember correctly you and Dad have a birthday soon- please please yourself according to your own choice- I want it like that.  I’ll be with you all soon.  Please give my love to all.

Your loving son,

Chuck
