Dear Marge,

Well I’m looking this place over tonight. I’m in one of the service clubs trying to scribble but the darned pen isn’t so hot. Its really warm here tonight. We had a big rain but that didn’t help much all it did was make a lot of mud around here. Well Honey we are getting settled here. There is a lot of work but its better than the woods.

Chet told me his wife said she was coming down before long. He didn’t know just how soon. Honey why don’t you come with her. We could be together for a while I hope. Our outfit doesn’t know what’s going to happen. There is a rumor that we go on more maneuvers before long with the 2nd Army. Nothing is certain. Even if I got a furlough after you came we could go home together. Honey I’d love to see you and I’ll prove it when we get together. Write and tell me what you are going to do. Honey I would love to see and be with you. This place isn’t anything like N.C. and it reminds me of Ohio.

There are some Prisoners of War at this camp. I don’t know how many. Honey I’ll talk to Chet and maybe we can cook up something before long. I think its between 550 and 600 miles here and transportation is a lot better than at Davis. There is a bus going thru here every hour and maybe oftener.

Marge I didn’t get any mail today but I know you are still thinking of me. If you do get here don’t growl cause I have most of my hair cut off. It isn’t over ½ long anyplace and I never comb it. It’s really cool and easy to wash.

Well Marge I got thrown out of the shower room. I turned the hot water off and a couple of the other guys didn’t like the cold water. Anyway I still like to take a good old shower hot or cold.

Well Honey write me a big letter and tell me how much you love me. Honey there isn’t any use of me buying a cap like you said cause we aren’t allowed to wear them here on this post. My old ----- hat is cool anyway. I’ll tell you what the soldiers call it. Honey you’re the best pal I ever had and I’m glad I talked you into marrying me. It may be hard for us now but at least we can have something to tell our kids if and when they arrive. Or I can I hope. I still think of Junior and - - - -. Remember them? Honey have you ever named them? I never get called Ralph anymore all I get is Tommy, Thompson and - - - -. Some of these officers have a language that would make the devil blush.

Honey write and tell me what you decide to do. I’d love to see you. Don’t forget we couldn’t be together every night but I’d come every chance I could. I love you more than any thing else and I want to prove it.

                                                            I love you,

                                                                        Ralph
