Dearest Marge,

I got a letter today or you could call it that.  It was bigger than the Carroll Journal.  I was really surprised to get it. It’s the biggest letter I’ve ever gotten from you or anything.  It was really a letter.

I just came back from a real good show.  It’s a war picture but it’s still a good show.  I saw the show you mentioned. “Thousands Cheer.” – I thought it was good.  We generally see the shows here in camp before they go out to the public.  It only costs us $.15 to see a show so that’s about all there is to do.

Chet just received a telegram that Vernie was arriving tomorrow night at 10 P.M.  He didn’t know she was coming and now he isn’t sure whether he can get a pass or not.  Boy Honey, I’d really love to see you.  It’s 3 months today since I left you that morning.  Remember?  That was some day.

I’ll have to read your letter over again before I can remember what you said.

                                                P.S. THE LIGHTS WENT OUT.

                                                                        LOVE RALPH

Honey I never get to finish this last night.  I was thinking about you all the time though.  I got a card today from you.  You asked me if I had received the other package.  I got the fruit and nuts about a week ago now.  I never did get the box from your mother and dad.  If it was insured maybe it can be traced.

I was sorry to hear Lynn had died.  Well I doubt if I ever live that long.  That’s a long time for anyone.

Tell Billy I said “Happy Birthday”.  This will be late but better late than never.  These pages are all mixed up so I’ll number them now so you can read it the way I wrote it.

It will soon be supper time and Ill have to stop for a while.  I’ll finish this after while.

                                                                        Love, Ralph

We had a pretty good supper.  The coffee here is getting scarce again.  Why, no

one knows.  We only have coffee once a day now.

Well Honey I hope this finds you better.  Maybe pop was right about you not going down till I get there.  We are still looking for furloughs but who isn’t.  I think we will get them later.  One never knows about such things.

We got our Btry. Pictures today.  Marge I’m going to mail both to you and then you can give one to mom.  It will save me a lot of trouble wrapping them.  Boy are we ever a sour looking bunch as if you didn’t know.  Ha Ha.

Honey I can’t think of much news tonight but I’ll write you a big letter tomorrow.  We are off and I’ll have lots of time to write.  I’ll be thinking about you all the time.  Honey I love you and I’ll prove this to you some day.  How soon I don’t know.  The sooner the better I’ll like it.  I miss you and I think you know it but neither you nor I can help that.  Honey you’re the sweetest pal anyone would ever want.  Be good and take good care of yourself for me.

Yours forever,

            Ralph

Here’s a kiss that’s a poor initiation.
