In England

Hello Darling,

I’ll write a couple lines this evening before I go to bed.  I received two letters from you. One from Ila, the candy you sent and a couple of journals.  “April 27”, “May 17”.  Late issues. Ha Ha. The candy was really swell too. I never have received the Clark Bars yet.

You told me to tell you what I wanted for my birthday. Don’t worry about that. I’m not. There isn’t any thing I need accept you. Anyway it would really be late. Wait till next year and then buy something. What you should do is tell me what you want for yours, but don’t look for it. Ha Ha. I guess that sounds corny but I can’t help it.  That’s just one of those things. About the War Bond, I took out an allotment when I left New York last February.  I guess I must have forgot to tell you about it.  That’s probably all there will be because the government cancelled all Bond allotments again.  I guess they have a Service Bond or something now.  I don’t know what I’ll do now.  Probably just drop the whole thing.

I got your letter about Charlie. Poor Naomi better hurry or maybe Charlie will try and shoot himself again.  Remember when he did?  How did he get burned so badly?  Did the buck explode or something?  Boy I’ll bet Naomi is having fits or something.  Better watch her or maybe she will start blinking her eyes.

So you finally went back to your old job again. I looked for that to happen a long time ago but wasn’t sure. Well don’t work to hard.

Ila told me you were looking better than you ever did.  How are you and Butch getting along?  Better watch him Norma might give him some ideas again. Remember?  If you don’t, I’ll tell you.  It happened when I was home. Was your face red!!

Did you ever get any mail yet?  I’ve been writing pretty regular so you should sooner or later.  There isn’t much news around here. Maybe something will happen someday.

Honey, if you don’t hear from me, don’t worry.  Sometimes I’ll be too busy to write but Ill write every chance I get. If you don’t hear from me don’t stop writing. You will get some mail sooner or later.

Well Honey I’m pretty tired tonight so I’ll close. Don’t work too hard.  Boy what I wouldn’t give to be there with you.  Don’t worry. I’m feeling swell but lonesome for you. I’ll send you all my love.   I love you.

                                                                                                Yours forever,

                                                                                                            Ralph
