Monday Evening

Dearest Darling,

I got a letter today written July 4th.   I was really glad to get it too.  Your Dad called me tonight and they got a letter Saturday.  He was telling me that Ferguson’s got word today that Billy is killed.  Probably they will write and tell you more about it than I know.  It sure is an awful thing but we can’t do much about it.  He told me “Barney” called home today from Indiana.  He probably is headed for the Pacific too.  I think the longer you can stay away from the Japs the luckier you are.  I’d sure love to see you but I’d rather you would stay there a little longer than to come home and have to leave again. We have no choice so I’ll have to take what I get.  Anyway I love you and always will no matter what happens.  I think about you all the time and more every day.  The time has been going so slow lately but some day the time will come when we can be together.

I went back to work this morning after having my week’s vacation.  Boy it was awful to get up so early after sleeping all morning.  I was glad to go back though because it gets awful lonesome when your home all day long.

Honey there is no news as usual so I can’t write much.  I’ll tell you again before I close that I love you Ralph more than you will ever know.  You sure are swell and I’m really proud of you.  Maybe before to awful much longer we can be together again and then anything can happen.

                                                            Always yours
