Hello Marge,

Well I got another letter from you today.  One you wrote July 12th.  Boy Marge, I really love to hear from you even though there isn’t any news.  All my mail is still being sent here from the 481st and it took 8 days to come from Nuremburg to here.  About 150 miles.  That’s some service. That’s longer than it took to cross the ocean.

Well there is a show here after while.  It starts around 10 P.M. or after it gets dark enough to see the picture outside.  Some theater. Outside on the ball diamonds and the darned mosquitoes are really big.  Almost like the ones in North Carolina.

It’s kinda cool here again tonight.  Boy the other night was really cold.  I’d give anything if I could have had you to crawl in with. I wish the army would take theses canvas cots and shove them up their ass. The cot and this sleeping bag is the hardest thing ever dreamed up to try and sleep on.

How is Naomi and her little Charlie doing now?  Still as crazy as ever?  She better hurry up or he may change his mind. Boy you don’t go visit your friends very often if you haven’t been to see Eva since I was home.  I don’t blame you though.

You didn’t win a suitcase at the Waynesburg Homecoming this year did you?  Remember that night? You wanted the darned thing and then wouldn’t carry it.

Well darling, I hope I don’t have to write too many more letters before I get home to you.  I’m not making any plans because there are too many rumors over here.  Some good and a lot xxx.  The next two weeks here should tell a lot about what we are going to do.

I think I’ll sign off for tonight.  Here’s all the love of a real lonesome guy to the sweetest wife in the whole world.  I love you more than you will ever realize, Darling.

                                                Always Yours

                                                            Ralph
