Dear folks,

Well here goes a very much delayed letter.  I received all the letters you have been writing me all in bunches this week and I mean I was really glad to get them.  I received fourteen at one time Wednesday and two of them were from you.  I was glad to learn that you all had a good Christmas.  I’m rather thrilled myself at the prospect of receiving that bathrobe but, as you suggested, you can keep it till I get back for I can’t use it here.  Evah told me that they had gifts for me too and when I wrote her yesterday I completely forgot to thank her so you might all swap letters so what I forgot in one letter maybe I’ll put in another.

There’s very little fresh news so I’ll just repeat a little of the old.  First, I’m bald-headed.  Just temporarily I hope.  I had myself scalped so I could get at my dandruff.  Temple had his cut Indian style and we have quite a bit of fun thinking up names for each other.  “Sitting Bull,” “Geronimo,” “Cue-Ball Kelly,” Turrets-Top.”  That’s a few of them.

This certainly is a beautiful island.  I think the grass skirts you read about are mostly advertising but I have seen a few.  The people dress very much as they do in the states.  Maybe a few more slack suits.  When you decide to take your extended vacation I would certainly recommend Hawaii.  “Sully” and I have all already agreed to return with our wives in six or seven years.  We saw Honolulu and Waikiki Beach together Monday and spent a very pleasant day.  We visited a park out at Waikiki that contained hundreds of different species of birds from all over the world.  Peafowl, love-birds, birds of paradise, hoonbills, parrots, etc.  Some of the most beautiful birds I ever saw and also some of the strangest looking.  Had a swell dinner too and drank so many malted milks that I didn’t feel like eating for a day or two.

I had some pictures taken this week.  I [will] send some home if they will bear looking at.  I featured my hairless pate in them.

I’m glad that Fred will have continuous work on the construction job.  It will soon be payday for me again.  I didn’t know whether to save my money to send home or to buy myself a good watch.  You can get good prices on them here at army P.X.S.  I lost my pen and am using a borrowed one now so that will be the first thing for me to get.

The address at the head of the letter is correct so I’ll continue to look for your nice letters.  And they don’t have to be airmail either.  I’ll get them just the same with the good old town center.  Best wishes and

                                    Lots of love,

                                                Glenn
