Dear Sisters:

I am fine and hope you are the same. I have been put on the alert for shipment but don’t believe I’ll make it as I am a super or extra and it doesn’t look good. I am really disappointed that I am missing out on it for one thing. I’ll have to get all packed and checked and then watch the others go and I’ll be left behind. Another thing I heard from a very good source that it was going to N.J. Boy, it really makes me mad as hell if I don’t go far; then I could get home on a week end pass and if there is one thing I desire it’s to get home for a little. I am sick of seeing just fellows laying around in a barracks or sweating their hearts out at some job or other.

Today was supposed to be at inspection so I took off to the movies to miss it for I don’t feel like standing inspection. It is very hot down here in the daytime. You really get a heck of a going over with the heat then at night it gets quit cool. I believe we will soon be getting some thunderstorms as it is clouding up.

Fred Warring is on the radio I guess maybe you are hearing the same program only an hour later than I am it is just a little after 6 P.M or 1800 now.

I got a letter from each of you so I will try and answer it now.

Ya, it does look good in Italy, Kathryn and I still say that if they’d move the Presidential election up they would move up the end of the war likewise.

How was your hangout at the Elks? Did you have a good time?

How is the housecleaning doing Mildred? I guess you are nearly finished by now? Too bad your cellar smells from those damn dogs. There doesn’t seem to me any too much harmony in the neighborhood about dogs and cars. Yea I am not sure I am getting home Mildred it surely looks blue.

Holy Hell Jean Taylor surely changes her mind often enough and I don’t think who ever marries her will even be sure that she is where she belongs but out flirting around with some one else.

I guess you had quite a job at the blood bank. They surely got lots of papers from Tamaqua .

I am glad you put flowers on the cemetery.

I hope your ankle isn’t hurt bad Irma. I don’t think the kids will have to learn any song for me for the damn army ain’t leaving me get home. But tell them I appreciate it anyway. I also hope you have garden flowers for Memorial Day it will soon be here again and there is much to celebrate for we are now losing more young people than anyone ever dreamed of.

O yea Irma, the funnies. I really see nearly all of them before I get yours so if you don’t want to send them it is O.K.

Yea, I have my money to come home for quite awhile. She sent me a bank check as they will not honor personal checks here and the way it is I can mail it back if I don’t need it.

Well I am out of news so I’ll sign off for now. I’ll be writing but I hope my next letter is closer to home.

                        So Long

                              Love

                                    John
