Dear Mom:

I guess you have been wondering what on earth has happened to me, well, you must remember I wrote you what all I had to do and how little time they gave us to do it in.

Mom, I shall be even busier in the future, I have been promoted from Cadet Captain to Major.  I am in charge of the new group of boys that arrived last Saturday morning.

I am in charge of their drill and seeing that they are properly trained, it is a pretty big job and I hope I can hold it down, all I can do is to try.

They are really pushing us in our studies; I am taking almost everything you can name and the some.  I am getting behind in some of my work but I know it is not me because all of the boys are, we just do not have time to study and I don’t know what they will do about it.  Time will tell I guess.

Mom, I was invited out to dinner last Sunday by some elegant people that I met up at the church.

They gave me a swell feed and then put me in their big long Buick and rode me all over everywhere.  I really had a chance to see the town.

They took me out to the airport and one of the instructors that are going to teach us to fly took me up for a ride over the countryside.  It is really pretty from the air.  I really had the time of my life.

I got a letter from Aunt Rene the other day and one from the boy I used to work with in Macon, he is in Miami, poor boy.

I hear from B.J. right regularly and she says that she misses me lots, sounds as though she means it too.

I sure would like to see her again, she really is a sweet gal, why don’t you write to her sometimes, she’d be glad to hear form you, she likes you very much.  113 Buford Place. Macon

I am well and happy Mom so don’t worry about me.  I lost about 10 pounds in Miami but I have gained about 5 pounds more than the day I joined the army.

Will have to close for now so until next time give my love to all.

Your loving son,

Roy
