Dear Mom:

We learned today where we are going. I am going to Douglas Arizona which is a twin-engine fighter school. I got just what I wanted. Mom, right now I just couldn’t be any happier. Oh Boy, I am not mad at any body. Whoopee!

We will be leaving sometimes near the end of the week, don’t know exactly when, I’ll try to let you know as soon as I know myself.

I mailed the pen today; I kept the pencil because if they have to send it back to the factory the pencil would not have to go back with it. Of course if you send back and they say you have to have the pencil, well I will send it. But I won’t unless I just have too. I am using it and it is swell.

Mom, we just had mail call and your picture came. It is really swell, I love the snazzy hair do is mighty classy. Mom, you look younger than when I left. Keep it up! I put the picture in the frame with the family shot. I had the little picture of Anne and I but you know the story on it so when I got your picture it fitted right in place. Remember you told me to put a picture of my best girl in there, well I did!

Next day-

Mom, I am going to Douglas, Arizona for advance so that is where I will get my wings. It is right near the Mexican border so I may get into Mexico before leave there. I got my choice, it says on the orders “Twin engine fighter advance training.”

(Authors note: I suddenly discover that I have already told you this. That’s what I get for never rereading my letters. I can say it twice because I am tickled pink over it.)

I wrote Corley the other day but I have not heard from him yet, don’t know whether he is still in Kansas or not.

Mom, that’s about all the news for now so I’d best be closing for now.

                                                                                                Love, to all,

Mom I’m sending ten. Maybe it                                                             Roy
