Dear Ben:

How have you been good buddy? Hope you have been doing fine in school and having a good old time all round.

Now let me thank you for the swell Christmas present. It was something that I really needed bad. You are a good brother and I am anxious to see you again. We’ll have a swell time when I get home if I get a leave when I graduate. I hope I can get home. I’ll have to come by plane if I want to make it I guess. Hope I can take you for a ride. I don’t know whether the army will allow it or not. We’ll see.

Ben old’ boy, I’m sending you $10 to put on your bicycle if you are going to get one for Christmas and if you don’t get one, you can put it on whatever you want. Wish I could be with you for Christmas, but it looks like I won’t be able too so we won’t worry about that.

I am now flying a twin-engine advanced trainer now. I don’t know what I will fly when I graduate, I hope I fly P38’s but lots of times you don’t get what you ask. I may fly B25’s or B17’s or anything else they may dream up.

Have you seen the picture “Air Force” yet? I saw it the other day and it was really good. You should see it if you can, you’ll like it I believe.

Well bub, I’ll have to be on my way for this time, write when you can. I like to get letters from you. Be good.

                                    Your brother,

                                                Roy
