Dear Mom:

Received the package yesterday and everything was in good condition except the watch; it wont run. I dint know what is wrong with it, I’ll take it to town tomorrow and find out.

I pulled the winding stem out of my new one on the train coming out here. I took it to a jeweler and he said it would be better if I sent back to where I bought it as it would be quite awhile before he could fix it. I sent it back.

Now about my trip back: I got to Douglas about 5:00 PM Sat. afternoon, I went out to the base and got my orders telling me I had to be in Albuquerque the next day. I was tired and so out-done I did not know what to do.

I found that I could catch a bus that same night at 9:05 so I cleaned up at the base and went to town and caught the bus. I arrived here Sunday about noon so everything worked out ok. I was very pleasantly surprized when I saw the base, it is so nice and we are treated so good. It is a nice little loran too, about the size of Macon and a fine place to be stationed.

Mom, please get Buice out of the house as soon as you can, I have never liked his appearance, he has T.B. I know, poor thing. If the truth were known, that is why he is not in the army, they x-ray your chest. If you don’t get him out I will write to the health dept. myself. He is a menace to all of you. Please have him moved Mom, now. Don’t wait until he’s up! He can be moved in an ambulance if necessary.

I have met some girls that go to school here, don’t worry, I haven’t met the one yet, but I am still looking tho-

Tell Ben that I will send his wings as soon as I can find a pair, they are scarce around here.

There is not much news, I’m doing ok in my new plane, I believe I have found a plane I can really fly at last.

Write often and I’ll do the same.

Your loving son,

Roy
