Dearest Mom,

Guess I told you the books arrived OK and thanks a lot.  Haven’t had too much time to study them so far, but we are getting weathered in lots now so I’ll be putting more time on them soon.

I sent Pop a carton of cigarettes, I suppose he has them by now.  I would have sent them sooner, but they have cut us to two packs a day so I have to save up awhile before I can get a carton.  Tell him I’ll send more as soon as I can collect them.

Also am sending Ben some more insignia and some cards and stuff about N. Mex.  Let me know if he gets them.  Most of the scenes I have flown over.  We fly all over the whole state nearly as the bombardier cadets get some navigation along with their bombing course.

No news so I will close for now.  Hope you are all fine.  I am fit as a fiddle now that my cold is gone.  I have found some wonderful nose drops and I’ll send you the name as soon as I can learn how to spell it.

Write to me and give my love to Dad and Ben.

Your son,

Roy

P.S. I think you should have rented the room to the people.  Try to get a couple of pretty girls and I’ll get another leave soon and things would be perfect.

I’d like to have a “Prince Gardner” brand wallet if you can find one.  No zipper on it as they always get hung.  One with the places for lots of cards sorta like a book you know!
