Dear All:

I am now all finished with the flying part of my training here and all that now remains is to finish up ground school.

Don’t know when I’ll be leaving here, shouldn’t be more than two weeks at the most and guess what? I get a leave when I leave here of at least 7 days and possibly more. They have told us for sure that we will get at least 7 days at home. So Mom you can start cooking now, soup and corn on the cob, carrots, chicken and all stuff like that there. Makes my mouth water just to think about it. Mmmmmmmmmm!

Hope I won’t put Herb’s sister out  I can sleep in the dining room or on the sofa. I have learned to sleep anywhere since I’ve been in the army.

That really sounds swell about Pop going down to Aunt Rene’s. I was really disappointed when he backed out on the trip last time. She really enjoys having him, sure tickles me the way she treats him like a little bro. after the war there is going to be lots of visiting going on in our family. The first thing I am going to do when I come back from overseas is to buy a car, a brand new one.

Haven’t heard from Corley or Harry yet. Corley never writes so I have just given him up for last. He has other interests now.

Ole sis Weatherly is really getting up the social ladder and doesn’t care what means she uses. Toss out her husband, coast on her son’s death. Ok if you like that sort of thing I guess.

Sure would be nice if I could come to Savannah wouldn’t it? That couldn’t happen to me though, just too much luck for it to happen.

Don’t fret over Dorothy Mom, that is the “modern way” you know! All I can say is that I don’t want a second hand wife when I decide to lay down my liberty and be a family man. Small of me ever doing it too! Fooey on girls!

I guess you can look for me around the first of August, we don’t know exactly when to say, and you can bet they won’t tell us till the last minute of course.

Will close and go to the show, nothing else to do around here.

Love to all,

Roy
