My Sweetheart,

Mae I am on radio watch from six to midnight and there’s nothing to do but dream of you.  I guess that is all I can do ‘till I hear from you, but who knows when that will be, it will probably be sometime yet till we receive our mail.  I just hope there will be a fill bag of it waiting for me, well alright, I’ll settle for just one letter.  See honey it really has been a long time since I heard from you.  I miss your letters terribly.  Do you realize this last letter was May 30th?

We’re sorta having a little ________ lure and I’m sure everybody is enjoying it.  It’s really a healthful place to be to relax somewhat.  At least we are in a half civilized country.  This place may have some good points but for me there is no place like the USA.  Better still, there is no place like home.  Honey you sure would like to visit this place, I’d know you would enjoy it, you’re ____ a ____ that would take this in a big war.  I wish we could tour this place together.  Always be together.  Wishing I hope that day will be soon.  I wonder what it will be like just to hold you again in my arms.  I’m always dreaming of that day.

Honey, I sure had a swell time dancing yesterday, never danced so much in my life.  There was an informal at the USO and my buddy and I had a swell time.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said that but afterall there is no secrets between us.  But you will have to realize what it means to hear and dance again to a swell hand.  The boys were from the Naval Air Station here and they were solid.  I sure got back in the groove again but everytime I danced I was thinking it was you I was holding, wishing you were right there.  The only thing I have against dancing here is that it’s too hot.  I was terribly hot all evening and when the dance was over I was soaking wet.

Honey you’d be surprised how much this recreation and country has done to me.  I feel like a new man and the tension is slowly wearing off.  Things were getting so unbearable that I don’t believe I could of lasted much longer.  With a little rest on our hands things now have a different outlook and feel much better.  I don’t think you fully understand the situation but you can rest assured that things are getting back to normal.  Just how long it will be is still a question, then we will go back to our regular grind again.  I hate the thought of going back to that job.

Well how’s my little honey doing back home?  Still keeping you busy or has things slackened up a little?  Honey did you take your vacation yet or are you still waiting for me to come home?  You’d better enjoy these summer months and have a good time it’s no fun to have your vacation in the late fall.  Of course that is up to you to decide.

So honey, I wish I could tell you about when I will be home but there are people here that won’t let it pass.  But I believe you will find out soon enough.  Just keep your fingers crossed and believe in me.

Been visiting Inez and James lately?  How’s little Jr. getting along?  Been learning how to take good care of him, it might come in handy later on.

Honey before I forget I better tell you there is a slight change in the address.  Some people just stay awake nights to think of something to change.  Never satisfied with anything.  You now have to include my service number and also leave out the Navy postmark.  Below will be the address from now on ‘till another jerk gets a brainstorm.

I’ll be closing now Sweetheart but you’ll be hearing from me again real soon.  Hope this letter finds you and mom in the best of health and happiness.  Hope one of your letters reaches me soon.

By the way I never did hear from Needham, is he still at the Seaton?

            Well goodnight Sweetheart, sweetest dreams.

                                                                        Loads of Love,

                                                                        And always, Paul

P.S. Did you enjoy my last letter?
