My Darling,

Days are still going slowly by, and still no mail. I wonder how much longer we have to wait before these crazy goons decide to send our letter to us. It will be just like them to wait till we leave this place then will have it sent out, in the meantime we probably will go somewhere else and then will have to start worrying all over again. If this service has any kind of a system I would like to see it. There is only two ways of doing anything in this outfit and that is the right way and the Coast Guard way. So Darling just keep on writing and eventually one of these days I’ll be rewarded with your letters.

Darling several more days and our little anniversary will come up. This is one thing I can’t seem to get straight or maybe it’s because of my forgetfulness. Please set me straight and I’ll try and remember. Is the date the 14th or the 16th? Or am I wrong on both of them? By the time you receive this letter you will no doubt have received a little something. I’ve sent Airmail Special delivery. Hope you like it Honey. I always seem to have trouble buying a gift, I just don’t know what to get. Some of the gifts are so flimsy looking that I couldn’t see myself buying such articles. Especially down here, a real good piece of article is hard to find.

The other day while I was at the place when I had my uniforms fixed up, the girl there tried to sell me a locket hook made of straw with the name of this place written across it. It really was an overnight lag instead of a locket hook, at least that was what I would call it. The thing was useless to buy anyways because of the name on it but right along side of these locket hooks I spied some cute little fancy work. No I won’t tell you what it was but I bought it anyways. I’ll send it to you later on. If I had old “Guzyhelle” they would be hanging up there now. I really got a big kick out it by getting them. Not only myself but all of the boys that have seen them. I better stop before you get too curious to what it is. You’ll soon find out what it is. Hope they don’t ride as the boys have been riding me but it’s all in fun.

Well my Sweet, I haven’t been to any dances lately there are several each week but I just don’t have time ambition to go up. I even hate to put on my uniform to go up town so I just stick around and see the movies at the base. They have one here every night but lately the ones we have been seeing are nothing to talk about. They rate about A or B. They are just smutting to fast the evening away. Tonight then is a USO plan on the base but I’m stick with this radio watch this evening and will not be able to see it. I’m on from six to midnight and then again at six in the morning till noon. Then I’ll be off for twenty-four hours then go on at 12-6 in the afternoon, then again midnight till six in the morning, then another twenty-four hours off. That is the way my schedule has been recently since we came here.

Well Honey how have you been doing taking things in its stride & Hope you’re not letting your work get the best of you.

I just saw one of my buddies from the ship I use to be on in New York before I got sent down here and he gave me some bad news. This guy got transferred little after I did but the rest of the radio gang was sent to another ship during duty in a certain location. I guess this man and myself got transferred in the nick of time, well, anyways we’re still alive. Quite a fee of the fellows I know have already gave there lives.

Well Darling I’m close now but will write again soon. Give my regard to mom. Hope this letter finds you both in the best of health and happiness.

                        Loads of Love,

                        As Always

                                    Paul
