Dearest Hal- We had a front like a little snow this morning but it is a lovely sunny day and the birds are singing away-  I heard from Billy again yesterday-  It was written the 23rd and he had moved to the wilds of Africa he said-  His address changed to APO 759 – 2nd Replacement Depot – 21 Bncf postmaster NYC-   A letter from Margaret W. said the Will C.s had sold their farm to a man from Indiana, all but 120 acres- I don’t know which part that is but it is adv. in a sale bill together with stock and machinery-  They will move to a house on Augusto St in Sc-  [Will?] and Allie J. will live elsewhere-

Diana is dying of cancer- Lilly C. phoned S. and S. went out to see her- Her sister from Ohio is with her-  Billy says he has to sleep in all his clothes and pile on everything else he has to keep warm at nights, there if a camel doesn’t come along and begin to chew on him, he sleeps very well- I’m afraid it will be warmer before long- Said he hired a horse from an Arab and rode for 2 hrs. for 4¢-

Bill left me an allotment of $50.00 per month so I told Page I did not need yours and that too, and not to send me anymore- It has been a God send to me though and I cant tell you how I appreciate it and thank you-

It was awful here awhile, when I’d lie awake nights wondering where to get the next board money-

I am better than I’ve been for four months- but have an awful sore place like a boil on my front ribs- am taking x-ray for it at the le-hosp every 13 wks-

Sara & H.W. are going to Richmond this week to visit Elis- and will come back next week and stay a few days here at the tourist home near here-

A card from Pauline said Bits had his upper teeth and would soon get better- Love Ma
