My dearest Hal,

After having two of the hottest days of the season today we are having one the coolest.  We had a very bad storm last night with some hail.  I guess maybe that accounts for this sudden cold spell.  The storm did not do so very much damage.  It broke the tops out of two locust trees and broke right many limbs out of one of the maples.  It broke the window in my room and blew stick right into the room.  Glass was all over the room in tiny fragments.

Today was the day we had set to have a faculty meeting of all the Bible School teachers and helpers to plan a program for the commencement we will have on Sunday night.  We had decided to go out to Shenandoah Acres to eat our lunch and have a swim.  Since all the plans were made, we went ahead with the picnic and a few of the hardier souls went for a dip.  I wasn’t one of those, however, and I wouldn’t let Sam go either.  He was happy however because he caught three little water lizards; rather a bay in the water caught them for him.  He brought them home in a paper cup and put them in a big jar.  I imagine they won’t live very long but he loves to watch them.  He is full of curiosity about nearly everything he sees.

I am so thankful that we only have three more days of Bible School but we are having a picnic for the children on Friday afternoon and then Sunday night we are to have Commencement and I do look forward to that.

Darling, I can hardly believe the wonderful luck that you may really be coming in July.  I have wanted so long to think this awful waiting was over and I’m afraid to hope too much.  I’ll be certain when I hold you in my arms and not before.  Let’s pray it will be soon.  I feel I can never ask for any thing else if I can have you safely home again.

All my love,
