Dearest Pheety,

Well tomorrow is the big day (January 19, Wednesday). – I’m to be shipped out I don’t know where as yet. – I called my folks today for a little money & bid them goodbye. – They said they would have brought you down here Sunday but since I told them I might be shipped any day they didn’t come. They would come on Wednesday (the day I leave) but Dad has funeral work on.

Several of the boys I came down here with from Dayton said their wives’ house already received their checks. – Have you Darling? – I hope so for your sake.

Please don’t write anymore if you haven’t already because I won’t be here to get it. I think of you so much Darling and sure wish I could see you again before I go. – I’m so proud of you Pheety & I hope when you want a man’s charm you can wait until I come home. – I know you can because I trust you; I always have and always will as long as you are like you have been, that same Dear little Pheety.

Today I worked in Headquarters again drawing a large chart for some officers- Haven’t drilled any since I’ve been here, but it’s drilling I already knew.

Will write you darling when I arrive at my destination and boy then I can hear from my Pheety.

It seemed like a dream to go to a show free, eat, and smoke on the U.S.O. free, a fella don’t have to have any money only for smokes, clothes presses and haircuts.

Please take care of yourself Honey & don’t work too hard cause I want you to be in good condition to come and live with that bad little soldier of yours. And I mean bad because I really am so dirty when you and I get under the covers and fan the blankets. –How do you like my humor tonight?

Don’t forget to tell me how the house is, I’m anxious to find out but most important is you Darling.

I’m going to write the girl in Cleveland for my picture and have her send it to Raymond so she won’t smell a mouse if I have it sent to you—she may not send it if she knows it’s for my wife, she’s that selfish.

If Dad ever wants to wear my little leather boots tell him when you see him it’s okay—unless my Pheety wants to wear them.

When you go out doors when it’s cold be sure to have plenty on and don’t go out in your bare legs like you did the day the horse fell down—I know you’re laughing at me Darling but I know how you do sometimes and I worry so about you. –Did you see the doctor and is your incision o.k.? Tell your folks I said Hello & please tell Mrs. Short I liked her gift and give her my regards.

Be careful how you spend your money and don’t buy too many fun coats so you can come and see me some day.

I’ve been saying don’t do this and don’t do that and I bet you’re sore at me but I do worry about you.

Until I get to my destination Darling I want you to know I’m thinking of you all the time and do love you more than anything else in the world.

Your Faithful Husband,

X XXXX XXX!                                               Vincent
