Friday

My dearest Paul,

It was so nice, dear, to have your letter this morning.

It’s beginning to get warm here again. I’ve enjoyed so much the cool weather we’ve had this week. It’s really been ideal.

Frances and I went to the show last night, “The Major and the Minor”. It was sort of silly, but pretty good entertainment.

Played duplicate bridge at the club this morning with Lilly’s sister-in-law. We stayed for lunch, and afterwards, I almost played golf with her and her husband, but they already had their golf clothes out there, and had I come home to have changed I would have held them up, so decided not to try it. Think I will go out one day soon, though, as it is really marvelous weather for golf.

Mother said Walter called last night. Imagine he wants to know how you are getting along as he said he would call back. Guess Virginia is in Washington as she was to fly up last night.

All of my thoughts, dear, are of you. I miss you terribly, and I love you with all my heart.

                                                                                    Lucilla
