Dearest Mom and Pop-

Received your letter yesterday and sure was glad to hear from you all. Hate to hear that pop was having trouble with his back and hope he is over it by now.

The weather down here is lots cooler than it was. We sleep under two blankets every night and the days are lots cooler too. The work we are doing is about the same except for this week we are working at night. The boys that are jumping are jumping at night, and we hand them to Lawson Field in trucks, but we don’t have to work Saturday night. About 8 of the boys have to take trucks to Columbus on Sunday night to bring the boys from town; most of them spend the weekend in town.

I guess you got my card from Griffin, Georgia. That is where my Girlfriend lives, no fooling mom she really is a nice sweet girl.  No I am not about to get married, so don’t worry, the only thing wrong with her she has been married and has a little girl 6 years old, looks like I cant get a girl that hasn’t been married but that don’t keep one from being o.k.

Well mom, as there is nothing new and the same old thing day in and day out will sign off for this time.

                                                                                                Lots of love to all

                                                                                                           Marlin

P.S.  When you answer this let me know about when you will start in the peanuts, will try and get my furlough then, they are giving only 5 to 9 days but I think if I try just right and hard enough I can get 15 days. Hope so anyway.

Hoping to hear from you all soon

Mom that paper you sent down here, I tried to keep it but it got lost some way, some of the other boys was reading it and it got lost.
