Feb. 28th

Dear Cattie,

Haven’t received a letter from you for almost two weeks.  But I haven’t written either.  I’ve been on a job for over a week and haven’t written to anyone.  I returned yesterday, and had quite a few letters, mostly from Emma Lee; but it will take all this week to get caught up, if nothing interferes.

Oh yes, I received your box of stationary, upon which I’m writing.  Thanks a lot “Cattie”, and I “sorta” wish that you’d sent more. It won’t last longer’n a week.  Guess I write about twenty letters a week when I’m not busy.

Just finished a bacon and (fresh) egg sandwich, which is a rarity with us. It was certainly good, and I’m in a much better writing mood now.  Ha Ha I have plenty to drink too, but this isn’t a novelty, so I’d rather eat.

Seems like the big drive is on, and perhaps we’ll reach the Rhine soon. That’s one operation I’m really “sweating out.” My other “experiences” will be like a football game compared to that. We’re all hoping that Germany will surrender after it’s crossed.  Well, who knows?

Cattie, it’s so difficult writing now.  Our social life is completely nil; and there isn’t much that I’m permitted to tell you about our army life.  So, I suppose I’ll have to close now, as I can’t think of anything else.  Tell Joe and Aunt Irene “hello”, and I’ll try to write again soon.

                                                                                                            Lots of love
