No. 154

Hi Darling,

How’s my honey feeling as he reads this letter? Since I only received one letter from you this week, I feel that the reason you hadn’t written since then is because all is not going well with you. I haven’t said anything to your father, except what they already know (That you don’t feel well). Darling, please let me know how you really are doing, won’t you?

I’m feeling fine, and everything is going along well. Everyone is in good health. I did so want to write to you last night after we got home from your father’s, but I was so tired. I just could not keep my eyes open. It was really nice to gather together but sweetheart, it wasn’t the way I wanted it. You weren’t there, and how I miss you. Honey, I do hope this is the last birthday in the family that will be celebrated without YOU. For that matter, anniversaries are included too. Lydia and John have theirs this month, the 16th. We had a nice dinner, and your Dad really enjoyed his gifts. We talked all evening, and later in the evening we made coffee and after your Dad blew out the candles, (56 of them), we cut it. Della and Walter, her father and Elaine and Dick left shortly afterwards, and my father and I stayed for a while yet. We washed the dishes and straightened the house a bit. Gee, Honey, no matter what I was doing, I had you on my mind constantly. Have you felt that way too? I didn’t do much today. I slept very late in the morning and just sat around during the afternoon. Had to get some stockings so I went to Logan’s Square. Bought something; I got a kick out of. I got 12 stainless steel nails to be used in basting a turkey and stuffing it. Your Mom has some and I have always hoped to own some. They’re now beginning to make a few aluminum pots and pans and more metal is being used for utensils. I’m getting all set for that turkey you’re going to have when you get home. I looked at the earring set again today. It needs a bit of polishing.

Vivian and I went to the afternoon show to see “Love Letters.” Boy, was that ever a good picture. Honey, have you ever heard of it? It was very sad, but it ended nicely. Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones played in it. We went very early and got home early too. Vivian had to clean the pantry before retiring tonight so we just saw a matinee and went right home. The father went to a surprise party for Mrs. Karg. It’s so quiet in the house. I hope there won’t be many more Saturdays or other days in the week to be spent without you.

Having you here with me means so much to me – I love you, Sweetums.  I’m waiting for you, Dearie, so anxiously. May God send you home to me real soon. The very best of luck to you my honey.

You will keep your hopes up high won’t you, Sweet?

GEE, I LOVE YOU.

Until tomorrow, I’ll say good night.  Darling – Gee I wish you were here now –

                                                Your Baby,

                                                            Emily
