We received
your three letters this morning. We are glad to hear you are feeling alright
again. Your pa came home about an hour ago. He was doing some plastering on Albany Ave. which
he started Thursday. He is over to the gas station getting some stuff put in
the cars so they don’t freeze. It is getting kind of cold so he thought he
better have it done now then we won’t have to worry about them later on. We are
all feeling fine. Emily just called up a little while ago. She came home from
work. She received a couple of letters too so she wanted to know if we had
gotten any mail. We went up to see Dr. Freese the
other night and said that your pa should go and get a test because he hasn’t
seen your pa for several years. And you know the Red Cross investigates all
their records so he could not put anything down on the record. So we went down
Wed morning to Crawford and Madison for the test and that Dr. Freese would get it back Thursday morning so I called him
up Thursday night and ask him if we should come up. He said well that the
report is OK and that his heart and everything was all right so we won’t give
up. We are going to get in touch with someone else so don’t you feel
disappointed. We will try to do all in our power to get you out so just let’s
hope and pray there will be a way out. Will maybe have good news in our next
letter. Your pa wants to add a few lines so I will close now hoping you are OK
and that we will be hearing from you soon. Good luck son and take care of
yourself love and kisses. Mother
and Dad
P.S. Thanks for the Army paper keep sending them they are
very interesting.
Sunday
Dear son, glad to hear that you are feeling well and are
able to get a little time to yourself so that you all got a chance to get some
rest well. Doing a little right along but the weather is so changeable that a
person does not know how to dress. So we had a touch of passing weather, so
thought I would have some [illegible] peace put in both cars. I have a little
more outside work to do and hope we can get it done before it gets too cold.
Bill you mentioned about using the truck. No I hadn’t had it out once, mostly
use the trailer. I was to see Webb, and he told me what he thought about the
situation, asked how you are, and explained so much as he could, and told me
that his nephew, you know that policeman, and three other branches was froze
until 1947 regardless of points. Well will close for this time will write in a
few days hoping you the best of good luck and wealth with love, Mother and Dad
xx (Kiss) xx
