My darling,
I loved your letters tonight – one V of Sept 21 and air of 24. – Your daughter is killing me! So if this isn’t very un mixed up, blame her! – She’s the cutest little limit you ever saw. Oh dear dear, I do hope your cold is ok by now.
[Printed in the letter is “Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Carlson Ambrose North Dakota” and written beside it, “My 5 favorite words”]
– It makes me feel so bad if you’ve been sick and I can’t be there – Sweetheart we belong together – I hate wasting these months apart & I’m too selfish about you to be patriotic about it. But I spose years from now we’ll forget it. Louise is so full of pep tonite I wish you could see & hear her. She talks like a 2 or 3 year old. – This morn even tho’ she’d gone to bed so late last nite – woke up early! – does she get that from her daddy or mommy? Anyway she named everything she could think of to get me down this morn. Gramma fine warm! - & oh dear if you could hear her. She “helped” (“hel”) all the time. You should see her in her snow suit & - today I put on a bunny skating cap of mine (I’m trying to save that embroidered skating cap you saw her wear). This bunny cap is blue & has ears & comes down over her forehead which is good for the zero weather. –

-Honey, just look in the mirror & imagine your lashes – only imagine them the color of my hair - & you’ll see Louise’s lashes. If anything, hers are longer than yours (if possible darling) & darker red than my hair.
She has a box & her big Bobby doll & she’s made a wagon with a string and do I wish you could see it & her! Dear! Guess what I had for supper! – Kenny’s & Patsy’s tomato soup. It made me nearly cry – just thinking of us & Louise just gobbled it up!
There’s so many things about our life together that just come to me, & oh honey I just can’t wait for them all to be possible again.
I found another picture I’d drawn – here it is. [drawn picture on back of letter] I used to look at pictures in my children’s activities magazines. I guess I must have made this when I taught in Ambrose.
Just put a whirlwind to bed! – Darling she’s full of pep - & oh my she’s happy.
Darling don’t think I’m scolding – I’m not – but write to your mom. When you’re so busy skip one of mine – I’ll understand. (maybe you have now dear)
Tomorrow I go to Crosby – just L. & me. – What you said about after the European war sounded good for this one reason – it seemed as though you thought you’d stay there – which if I can’t have you is better because I’d just die if you’d get sent to one of those awful Pacific Islands. I know how hot & busy you are – but still I know your quite safe, oh sweetheart, no other wife could love their man as I do mine, but that’s easy to see, as no other wife has a wonderful perfect husband and I have.
Goodnite dearest
Patsy Irene
I’m still cleaning out boxes & boxes. At least 200 big boxes. – Does that sound like a job? – I don’t mind tho.
