My darling Jeannette: Letter #5
Am well as ever dear and have been so. This will be just a note to tell you that briefly and not too boring. I’m sorry it has been so long since last I wrote you on the 11th. I’ve been dreadfully busy and haven’t had hardly a minute to myself and only about an hour extra off in the past few weeks. My letters may be somewhat short but I’ll try to write more often. Tonight I went to my first show in several weeks- “The Lee Hawk” with Earl Flynn. We saw it together a few years ago. I enjoyed it again though. I’ve rec’d the rest of your May letters and the first one for June so far as follows: #12 on 10 June, #13 and #14 on 11 June, #15 and #1 for June on 17 June. Will just answer the main things and then the others later. Rec’d the folks’ letters of May 29th and 30th also. Do not buy me any leaves as I have three pair now- one given to me and 2p of my majors’ plated. You asked if I thought you should go in [WAVES] or foreign Red Cross duty. Definitely NO! And that’s that; let’s hear no more on that subject. I’ll write you again tomorrow I think. I hope to have some of tomorrow afternoon off but don’t know. Will send all my letters V-mail now unless I have something to enclose. Rec’d a letter from Jim and Eleanor a few days ago with a picture of Tim. He surely has changed a lot since last I saw him and is quite a young man now. Will say goodnight now as it is going on one AM- thus the date 19-20th. All my love, sweetheart.
