My Darling Jeanette,

Just a note with a few enclosures, 2 views are from the mountaintop at Chrea, near Algiers down into the valley. The city below is Blida, I think. Another officer who was there late took these and gave them to me. The third view, which he took also, is of the desert at dawn. (The light part goes up.) Then there is a notice of Mr. McDowell’s death, which Mrs. McDowell sent to me. And also a recipe I found in the Press for you to save.

Excuse the writing. It is sort of hard to do it with the bandage on my hand. I wrote you V mail today also.
