My
Dearest Sweetheart; Sunday
Morning
Another weekend is almost over and
it isn’t long finals. Leona and I slept
until 9:30 this morning and have just finished breakfast. She is going to drive over to Berkeley around
one to visit some friends, so I’ll get home early home early and will have to
study for the Social Welfare examination tomorrow—will come over for the
provisions of the Social Security Act of 1935 and public assistance, etc. It’s all very worthwhile knowledge, and as
I’ve said before, although my sentiments are opposed to the New Deal, I greatly
admire Roosevelt and his accomplishments.
I personally feel that the Social Security Act is one of the most vital
forces in this country which aims to aid those who are less fortunate in a
world of so-called plenty; the bridge between the “haves” and the “have-nots”
is being strengthened. No longer is an
individual a true product of the economic order nor considered morally wrong if
circumstances prevent him from being economically self-supporting.
How have you been? Are you studying hard for your one and only?
I’m expecting you to learn and progress with your math..
Well, there isn’t much more to say until I do something more, so bye.
Love, Berna
Lou
