My Darling;
Although
I’m awfully tired I shall write to my only sweetheart before preparing to turn
in for the night. Actually I have no time after I get home from the city, which
is never before 6:30. Dorris has been awfully sweet
to cook dinner, then I wash the dishes, plan the next day’s meals, prepare
ahead what I can, and clean up and get ready for the next day.
Our
supervisor is on her vacation, but her proxy went with me today to watch me
give a new infant a bath and make his formula. The baby’s mother is 23 yrs. old
and a very sweet person and I think she’ll take perfect care of her baby. The
daddy is in the navy and doesn’t know about the offspring yet. Won’t he be
surprised when he finds out what has happened since he left seven months ago?
This
afternoon Miss Junk, the Dental Hygienist, spoke to the three of us taking
field work. She ended her demonstration by whipping out her toothbrush and
going through a drill that she teaches the children! Even though she knows her
business, it made me kind of sick to watch the procedure; as a matter of fact,
it nauseates me brush my own teeth, let alone viewing the act!
Hope
to receive some letters from you real soon and hear that you’re happy. Glad to
know that you hope you don’t spend the duration so far away—that’s encouraging.
A
big kiss,
Berna Lou
