Wednesday Night
Dearest,
The middle of the week and I’ve
accomplished very little. Spent the
afternoon at Potrero Hill Well Baby Conference, which I rather enjoy. When I can snatch a moment, I look out the
window and have a beautiful view of the bay and the bridge and the Campanile on
a clear day. When you return we shall
see this together. This place is behind
San Francisco City and County Hospital, at 23rd and Potrero Avenue.
While on my rounds on McAllister
Street near Fillmore today, I found an old egg beater for fifteen cents in one
of these Jew junk shops. Brought it home
and boiled it soap suds and have been scouring it with cleaner, then shall boil
it again. Found a beautiful one in
stainless steel for fifty cents, but it wouldn’t work, had you been here, I
would have brought it, knowing that you could make it work – needed to have
something removed so the wheel could go around, see?
When you return we shall go through
some of these junk shops if you’d like; there is something quite fascinating
about them—since you are so handy with tools, you will be able to renovate a
lot of things!
Somehow I am still living for my
weekends even yet. I like to sleep late
in the mornings and take my time at getting around to my work; this was
possible during the college days, but it seems that those days are nor gone
forever! Ah sweet days of bliss when one
has nothing but school to think that I complained so much! I am sorry!
I love
you,
Berns Lou
