Dearest
Ken; Thursday
Night
In one of your recent
letters you discussed the GI Bill of Rights.
I have read an article in a magazine which gives the full picture of
this and it seems like an excellent deal.
Remember the Federal stipend I received for three semesters? It totaled
around $700, which was mighty handy.
This particular money was to be used to prepare graduate nurses for
supervisory positions in Hospitals and Public Health. Your deal would be similar. Did you figure around $1400 a year? That amount I’m sure we have the necessities
cared for, but if prices continue as they are, we will have to supplement that
with funds we have saved during the war.
As I mentioned before, as soon as I start working again, I shall be able
to accumulate a fair saving, though you are probably well only well $175 a
month, wish is of course, less than my allowance! I understand that Industrial
work pays more, and I have been debating over which course to choose. Won’t you make some comments? Here’s the situation—if I work for SFHD I
shall gain excellent experience which is necessary if I wish to continue
working after the war. Should I get a
job ib industry I will make
a higher salary but will not be getting experience in PH. Why don’t you think the propositions over and
tell me what you think about selecting a job?
There are many possibilities open.
More in next letter.
I
love you, Berna Lou
