Dearest Mother,
Received your letter yesterday and I sure was glad as it is the only letter I’ve received so far this week. We don’t go to another camp for mechanical training but I sure wish we did. We had one exam since school started + I got the only 100 in class so you see how much I like mechanics. I have learned a lot of things that I can apply to my own car to make it run better if + when I get a chance. The weather here is certainly warm compared to R.I. weather + we have only had snow twice + then it was all the next day. It certainly is nice to know you made good on the Sabbath. I know I should. When I came home over the weekend I met some S.O.A people on the train + I had a nice letter from them which I answered. I don’t know any other S.O.A’s + I also don’t know who the fellow is in the clipping you sent. After all this camp is bigger than Woon. I think you are lucky to get a few things as we don’t get butter and eggs only occasionally. I sure hope Stan can stay out as long as possible as I know he wouldn’t like the Army. Is it possible to get extra coupons in advance. If I came home some weekend I wouldn’t have a chance to get any as the board is closed. I got the applicants copy of allotment + I guess it gone through as they took it out of this month’s pay which gives me $21 + which I get a week from Monday. I know all this because we sign the payroll about a week in advance, you ought to receive 1st payment about the 1st of March. It’s O.K. if you want to let Walter use the car in case of necessity but don’t deprive yourself of gas. Did you go + get a supplemental rationing for this new period. If you get a chance try + get some tires when you get my money.
P:S Got cookies O.K.
Your loving son
Glenn
