My darling Fran:-
Being
Sunday I didn’t receive any mail from my loved one but I’m going to look
tomorrow. Yesterday it rained all day and like [edited for content] fools we went
out in it last night but being Sat. night we wanted to see what goes but every
night in the week is the same over here. We were in a little after 10 so we hit
the hay early. Today is was very lovely all day although it was rather windy.
Cookie, Stan, Bohan, & myself went down town but
the bus was so crowded with G.I’s there wasn’t room
enough so we proceeded to Ernie Pyle’s theatre where we had coffee and cookies
then seen a movie (Up Goes Maisie) and a very good
stage show. The stage show was U.S.O. it was an all girl orchestra and they
really where good. We caught the bus home in time for supper. They have several
new Army busses here just for Military personnel so we don’t have much trouble
as far as transportation goes only to wait occasionally. Boy these street cars
they have are about ready to collapse and I wouldn’t ride them anyway because
they are jammed with Jap civilians and in my estimation they are all disease
and germ carriers. They are trying to make changes here whereby the only men
that can be special agents are officers so I don’t know whether we will be sent
to school or shoved in administration. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they
put me back in the Infantry, boy this army really takes the cake. As they say
in the Army its “piss poor”. Don’t know what’s on for tonight but I imagine we
will either end up playing poker or going to Army Hall and
see “Doll Face”. I wrote mother last night after I finished your letter. I
forgot to tell you so I told her to tell you the next package you mail send a
couple boxes of Fig Newtons and 2 or 3 Raisin Fruit
Biscuits. If you can’t get them in one of the stores Dad will get them for you.
Well darling before I bring this to a close I mustn’t forget to let you know, I
love you so much I don’t think words will express it and I mean that from the
bottom of my heart and I might add I miss you just as much. Please be good for
me as I’m being good for you, there isn’t a soul in the world that can take
your place. Give my regards to your mother & dad, Geo. & Blanch, and
all our friends. God bless you and keep you safe for me.
With
all my love,
Your honey.
